A quick update! Newsletter, podcasts, columns ... and more!
Let's grow our progressive community in Bucks County and beyond!
First, I want to to say congratulations to all of the school board (and other) candidates who ran amazing primary campaigns pushing thoughtful, honest and progressive platforms. My newsletter, column, and social media are here to amplify (when possible) your campaigns and messages as we continue organizing in #PA01 for November’s general election.
I took a pause with the newsletter after the election to recalibrate. Now I am recharged, ready to resume, and unrolling a few new things!
First, I will continue publishing the newsletter regularly on Thursdays, and resume with the Meet a Progressive feature on Mondays (which showcased school board candidates in the previous weeks because it is such an important issue locally).
One new project I am working on is a new weekly podcast with Perkasie-based Raging Chicken Media’s founder and editor Kevin Mahoney. Have a listen to our latest episode and subscribe!
The podcast will be tight: 30-40 minutes. The Wednesdays following my column we will take some time to dig a little deeper about the issues I’m writing about, and discuss one to two other local/statewide stories we are following. On the alternate weeks we will go beyond the bubble to highlight stories around the globe, talk about books we are reading, and eventually invite on some guests. The idea is to expand our political imaginations about what’s politically possible by learning from organizers, social movements, and authors in Bucks County and beyond. I am both honored and excited to work on this with Kevin and Raging Chicken Media (and check out their other podcasts as well).
Finally, I am going to start writing for other publications as well and will provide more details in the coming weeks.
I have a new column scheduled to come out on Thursday in the Bucks County Courier Times and the Intelligencer which talks about why PA needs a long-term funding bill for public transit and what it means for working class and communities of color. In case you missed my last piece, it was picked up by The York Daily Record and can be read here: Only a political uprising can save PA’s higher education system.
Please reach out to me if there are any issues you think I should be covering, people I should be interviewing, and books or articles I should be reading. Finally, if you have friends or family who you think would appreciate this newsletter, please spread the word and encourage them to subscribe.
In solidarity,
Cyril M.
