Lawyers, Guns, and Money Come to Newtown with Jim Worthington's Planned Gun Show, Attack of the Blob! (Again), J6 Joan Cullen on the Media, And Unfortunately More Far-Right News!
"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed," Newtown-bound Eagle Shows reminds us.
Former People 4 Trump founder Jim Worthington is planning on hosting a gun show in March in Newtown, PA, (not at the NAC) at his sports training events center. If this happens, the gun show will be hosted by Eagle Shows.
Over 50 people emailed the township supervisors expressing their opposition to the event this week. Keep in mind, even if you think it is a great idea to have something like this invade the community, the area is not zoned for an event like this (thankfully). Democratic Congressional candidate Ashley Ehasz went to the meeting to speak out, something that really triggered Worthington and which he has indicated might lead him to filing a lawsuit, something he has used in the past.

Here’s what Ehasz said at Newtown Township Board of Supervisors meeting this week in opposition to the potential gun show.
Worthington even went on far-right radio personality Dom Giordano’s program to talk about it.
Just a reminder, Worthington’s People 4 Trump organization organized busses to Jan. 6. The organization’s website and social media have since been scrubbed from the internet. Why is that?

Worthington also was actually pushing the Big Lie that the election was being stolen by Democrats before the election even happened and a winner was announced.

He also told Giordano, “I respect the other side,” meaning Democrats. https://www.audacy.com/podcasts/the-dom-giordano-program-262/nacs-jim-worthington-addresses-controversy-over-potential-gun-show-1229767375
Here’s what he actually thinks:
The next Newtown Township Supervisor meetings are Feb. 9 and 23, and there will be a zoning board meeting Feb. 24 which may ultimately decide whether Worthington follows through with hosting the gun show - something he has said he will postpone until this is resolved locally. In the meantime, in addition to showing up to the meetings if you live in Newtown, DONATE TO ASHLEY’S CAMPAIGN HERE.
She is running against Worthington’s pal Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick.
The far-right Bucks County Gop-ReOpen Bucks-Pennridge for Educational Liberty-militia-QAnon blob, which is the Republican base in Pennsylvania’s First District, instructed their followers on Facebook to email the editors of the Bucks County Courier Times and The Intelligencer this week and urge them to fire me. For someone they say is so insignificant, they are pretty determined to silence me, as this isn’t the first time. Here’s some background on the two groups leading the attack.

My next column comes out Thursday.
This is Pennridge School Board President Joan Cullen, who thinks local media should follow her advice about what constitutes fair and balanced coverage:
At this week’s school board meeting Cullen talked about how the media was misrepresenting the district’s purging of books and prohibitions to talk to students about the Jan. 6 insurrection/coup attempt, among other issues deeply concerning to the community.
“If you see a report and the report is talking about people but nowhere in that report do they actually talk to the people that they’re reporting to you about, that should be a clue that maybe you’re not getting the full story. And again I would ask that you go to the people that will give you the answers… And we have had some successes recently with local newspapers. We’ve talked to them about what they have chosen to print. I know community members have talked to them. I personally have talked to them about what they choose to print and the resposnibility there that they have and we did get some good responses that there should be more discernment and deciding is this really something that’s helpful, is it the right representation of what’s happening and what’s our role in making sure the community gets the truth.”
When journalists do reach out to Cullen to get an explanation about what’s happening in the district in order to inform the public, this is the response:
Apparently she only likes to talk to the far-right “media,” like the aforementioned Dom Giordano.
From a Jan. 3 appearance.
From a show three days later.
I wouldn’t worry though. Local reporting has been strong when reporters have covered Pennridge, and I will continue to cover the school district as well.
To wrap up the Bucks County right-wing shit-storm edition of my newsletter, I’ll leave you with Bucks County’s grassroots GOP leader Andy Meehan responding to news that a parent found a swastika and KKK spray painted in the woods by a local elementary school:
Meehan also recently met with a local Proud American Patriots Network militia member running for State Representative.
Have a happy snow day, lol!
