First, I just want to wish everyone Happy Holidays, a Happy Christmas (War is Over), and a Happy New Year. I am grateful for your readership, solidarity, and support that you’ve offered me with my reporting both in this newsletter and for my column. I couldn’t do what I do without you.
Speaking of columns, I also just wrote my last column of 2021: How the PA GOP Stole Christmas. I had the pleasure to interview Nick Pressley, director of campaigns for the Pennsylvania Budget and Policy Center, for it. You can read it in the Bucks County Courier Times and The Intelligencer, or without a potential paywall at Yahoo! News.
So what’s in store for 2022? In the immediate future, I have my interview with “Jane” tomorrow, something I mentioned in a previous newsletter, and will be publishing it in January.
I also spoke with John Feffer today for about an hour. He has a new book out called Right Across the World: The Global Networking of the Far-Right and the Left Response. I’ll be writing a book review and be publishing articles based on our conversation in this newsletter and for my column. In addition, I plan to write a profile on a radical translators collective called Territorio de Ideas. And there will be more reporting, interviews, and features like this throughout 2022!
Meet a Progressive will continue to introduce you all to progressive activists, media makers, and (good) troublemakers from Bucks County, across Pennsylvania and the country, and around the globe. Finally, I will continue with local muckraking, with the help of the community, to expose far-right extremism, like this latest development in Pennridge School District (which I will report on more in detail.)
Sadly, this book is just the tip of the bigoted, reactionary policy iceberg crashing into the school district.
If you appreciate my reporting, writing, and the hours of labor that I put into it please consider becoming a paid subscriber. Your support will enable me to dedicate more time to it. And thanks to all of you who already have a paid subscription!
I also now have all of my columns available for reference here: https://www.clippings.me/cyrilmychalejko
I still almost can’t believe The Courier Times and The Intell asked me to write a regular progressive column back in March. Maybe in the near future they’ll increase it to a weekly feature — and you could encourage that 😉. Finally, please make sure to look out for me on Raging Chicken Media’s Wednesday Show podcast. Kevin Mahoney and I had to put it on pause for December because of conflicting schedules and commitments, but we’ll be back in January.
See you all next year!
Thanks for reading! I look forward to your feedback and suggestions. And most importantly, keep organizing!
